There are so many ways to get involved with HoopsHome
There are many ways to support international athletes — whether you can open your home, offer guidance, or give your time and skills.
HoopsHome is built on people who believe international athletes deserve safety, support, and a true sense of home. Whether you have a spare bedroom, professional expertise, or a few hours to give, there's a place for you in this protective network.
Host families and individuals provide safe, welcoming housing for international athletes during school breaks, holidays, or emergencies. You don't need a large home or prior experience — just a willingness to welcome an athlete and help them feel less alone.
What hosting looks like:
Short-term stays (1-7 days) or extended stays (1 week to 3 months)
Providing meals, transportation, and a safe home environment
Being a consistent, trusted adult presence
Who can host:
Families with space for a guest
Individuals with a spare room
Anyone willing to open their home with care and accountability
Requirements:
Application and interview
Background check
References
Home visit (virtual or in-person)
Ongoing check-ins with HoopsHome

Ready to open your home?
Hosting an international athlete isn't just about providing a place to stay — it's about creating safety, stability, and a sense of belonging for a young person who's far from home.
If you have space, compassion, and a willingness to welcome an athlete into your life, we'd love to talk.
Become a Mentor
Mentors provide consistent guidance, advocacy, and support — like a parent would — for athletes navigating life in the U.S. without family nearby. Mentorship is relationship-based, not transactional.
What mentorship looks like:
Regular check-ins (texts, calls, video chats)
Attending games when possible
Helping athletes navigate decisions, school, healthcare, and cultural adjustment
Being someone they can call when they need advice or support
Who can mentor:
Former athletes who understand the journey
Coaches, teachers, or youth advocates
Anyone willing to show up consistently and build trust
Requirements:
Application and background check
Willingness to commit to regular communication
Availability to respond when athletes need guidance
Ready to show up?
Mentorship isn't about having all the answers — it's about being consistent, trustworthy, and willing to walk alongside an athlete as they navigate life far from home.
If you can commit to showing up, listening, and being someone they can count on, we'd love to connect with you.
